Last night I played at the Battle of Britain Ball at RAF Leuchars, this is the 10th time I have done this and the format is fairly typical with a dinner then dancing afterwards till the wee small hours. The gig was fine and more at the Mustang Sally end of the musical scale. The band was Keith Haldane, Roger Cull, Jennifer Clark, Maria Speight and I.
We were preceded by a singer doing his Rat Pack thing with backing tapes and then a disco after us. I was impressed by the control software that he had on his i-pad and all the backing tracks that cost about a quid a go – is this the future of music for this sort of event? I hope not.
